With his focus on being the absolute best advocate possible for his clients, Richard truly cares about the people he serves and makes it a priority to provide them with timely, effective and efficient legal representation and advice.

Rich practices in the areas of civil litigation, estate planning (wills and trusts), estate litigation (will contests and estate claims), probate administration, conservatorshsips, business law, real estate law, landlord/tenant, employment law, and personal injury. 

Rich also has experience representing financial advisors and counselors in customer complaints filed with FINRA (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) through seeking expungement of prior improper and untruthful claims.

He belongs to the Knoxville and Tennessee bar associations, and is active in the Tennessee Veterans Business Association and the Farragut/West Knoxville Chamber of Commerce.

Richard, who has lived in Knoxville for most of his life, graduated from Duke University in 1993 and received a J.D. from the University of Tennessee in 2000. The third generation of his family to serve on active duty in the military, he was a squadron intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Eisenhower.

Outside of the office, Rich’s passions are his family, their miniature schnauzer, and volunteering. He and his wife have three sons and they enjoy hiking and camping together. Very active with his sons in Trail Life USA, a Christian outdoor adventure program for boys, he also is a past board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee, the local branch of the nation’s largest youth mentoring organization.  Richard also is an avid reader with a special affinity for history and politics.
